Kolkata Knight Riders 4-129 (Gambhir 42, Nadeem 2-22) defeated Delhi Daredevils 128 (Jayawardene 66, Narine 4-13) by six wickets.
The Kolkata Knight Riders have started their title defence in style overnight, easily accounting for a depleted Delhi Daredevils outfit by six wickets.
Proceedings couldn't have started any better for Kolkata as Brett Lee produced an absolute peach first ball to remove Unmukt Chand's off-stump. From there the Daredevils were sent into a spin by Sunil Narine, bamboozling four batsmen to take his third four-wicket haul in IPL cricket.
A composed knock of 66 by Delhi captain Mahela Jayawardene was the only highlight for the visitors, setting a modest 128.
Gambhir (42), Kallis (23) and Tiwary (23) made light work of the run chase, finishing the match through Eoin Morgan with eight balls to spare.
Delhi, without KP and Morne Morkel, looked vulnerable throughout the game. Kolkata conversely appear a strong chance to retain their title.
