The Perth Scorchers
' opening game of the Karbonn Smart Champions League Twenty20 tournament was abandoned without a ball bowled due to rain in Ahmedabad on Tuesday night.
The Scorchers were due to play South African side Highveld Lions to open their campaign at the lucrative tournament, but will now set their sights on New Zealand side the Otago Volts instead.
Both sides took two points from the match, which was called off after large puddles formed in the Sardar Patel Stadium outfield following a downpour of rain over Ahmedabad.
Otago also had their opening match against the Mumbai Indians abandoned at the same venue.
The four teams, who are in the same group, are equal with two points each.
The Volts, who are on a 13-match unbeaten streak, are next scheduled to play Perth in Jaipur in a fixture beginning on Wednesday night.
