Lynn's big bash equals BBL history

Brisbane Heat batsman Chris Lynn continues his Big Bash League big-hitting dominance and equals tournament record for sixes in a match

Chris Lynn has equalled the KFC Big Bash League record for the most sixes hit in a single innings.

Lynn lit up the WACA Ground with a stunning display of power hitting as the Brisbane Heat showed the full force of their destructive potential to slaughter the Perth Scorchers.

Lynn smashed 98 from just 49 balls, with 11 sixes and three boundaries.

It equalled the mark that was jointly held by Chris Gayle and Craig Simmons.

Gayle's 11 came in an unbeaten even 100 off 54 balls for the Sydney Thunder way back in BBL|01 at Stadium Australia, while Simmons hit his 11 in BBL|03 for the Scorchers in a match at the SCG where he made 112 from 58 balls.

Lynn already held the BBL's record for the most sixes in a career by a considerable margin, but his previous best in a single innings had be 'just' seven – a feat achieved three times.

He had also cleared the pickets six times in an innings in three previous games as well.

Lynn has hit 94 career sixes in the Big Bash, from 44 matches. The next best is Gayle's 51 (in 22 matches), while Aaron Finch has 47 from 35 matches.
