Father-of-two KP on track for derby
Kevin Pietersen and wife Jessica Taylor have celebrated the arrival of their second child, a daughter named Rosie.
The Melbourne Stars batsman played the opening two matches of KFC Big Bash League before returning home to be with his family for Christmas and to be at the birth.
Both Pietersen and his wife posted on social media on Monday night AEDT about the safe arrival of daughter Rosie, a sister to five-year-old Dylan.
The safe arrival of Pietersen's daughter would seemingly make the former England captain available to return to Australia as scheduled for the Melbourne derby against the Renegades on January 2.
It was announced before BBL|05 began that Pietersen would play the opening two matches of the tournament but miss the December 27 clash against the Sixers in Sydney.

The Stars managed without their star import on Sunday night, recording their first win of the season in front of almost 30,000 spectators at the SCG.
Pietersen opened the tournament with a score of 22 in the first-up loss to the Strikers before powering a brilliant 76 from just 42 balls in a narrow loss to the Thunder at the MCG.

The derby against the Renegades at the MCG looms as a crucial match for the two Melbourne sides, who have two wins between them from five matches so far this season.
The Renegades will tune up for the eighth Melbourne derby when they host the defending champion Perth Scorchers at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Stars have won the past four matches against their cross-town rivals.
