The import: Ian Bell’s stellar start to his BBL career continued, anchoring the Scorchers innings with a 38-ball 45. After arriving in the middle following the early loss of Shaun Marsh, Bell put on 85 in good time with Michael Klinger. His timing since arriving on Australian shores has been impeccable but he showed his power game too, flexing his muscles with a towering six off leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed.

The support act: Coming to the crease at 2-89, Marsh kept the momentum rolling to help the Scorchers post a strong total. While he only struck three boundaries, he made them all count, sending a trio of sixes flying into the WACA crowd. He twice sent tearaway Pat Cummins over the rope, the second an effortless flowing straight swing, and finished unbeaten with 44 off 27 balls. He also picked up a wicket in a player-of-the-match effort. Disagree? Have your say below by picking your own player-of-the-match.
