Raft of Big Bash signings revealed

The announcement of ticket sales has resulted in a swathe of new deals being announced in Sydney, Adelaide and Perth

As tickets for the Big Bash summer went on sale, clubs announced a spate of signings including a return for a championship-winning veteran and a bold move from a rising Australia A star.

The Melbourne Renegades lead the charge by announcing the signings of exciting allrounder Jack Wildermuth and New Zealand international Amy Sattherwaite.

Sattherwaite will also captain the Renegades' WBBL side after signing a three-year deal with the club, while the addition of Wildermuth will provide the men's side with crucial versatility in both their batting and bowling units.

The Renegades also announced the re-signings of Matt Short, Tom Cooper and Lea Tahuhu, as well as enticing former Stars players Hayley Jensen to don the red.

In Sydney, the Sixers announced key batter Daniel Hughes had re-signed with the club for another two seasons. Hughes has been in outstanding form early in the summer for the NSW Blues in the one-day competition and was the Sixers' joint player of the tournament last season.

Meanwhile on the other side of the country, the defending BBL|07 champions were making waves of their own, with veteran skipper Adam Voges announcing he'll again take the helm as the Scorchers look to become the first team to become repeat back-to-back champions.

The 38-year-old batsman, who has captained the side for the past three seasons, said the decision to return was made easier due to the depth of talent in the squad.

"The opportunity to come back here to the Furnace and play in front of big crowds again made it a pretty easy decision to re-sign," he said.

"The success we've had over the entire Big Bash has been exciting and lifting the BBL Trophy last year was a highlight of our entire season.

"We understand we can't become complacent this season, but I've got no doubt that we've got a squad that's capable of having another successful season."

Meanwhile, the Scorchers' WBBL side have also taken a major step towards avenging last season's final loss to the Sydney Sixers with major announcements of their own.

The club's dual WBBL Player of the Year Katherine Brunt will return again for WBBL|03 after having starred in her first two seasons in burnt orange, claiming 26 wickets across the first two editions of the tournament.

She'll be joined by fellow England international Natalie Sciver, with the former Stars allrounder making the move west after being persuaded by her countrywoman.

"Katherine says the squad is young, but really fun and a great group of girls, so I'm really looking forward to playing with the Scorchers over this Australian summer," she said.

"Hopefully I can contribute batting, bowling and fielding and I can help get some wins on the board."
