Big Bash Fantasy returns with new WBBL comp

New season and a new competition with more prizes up for grabs

Big Bash fans, it's time to dust off your manager's cap and start preparing for the biggest season of Big Bash Fantasy yet featuring the addition of an all new WBBL format.

That's right, with just one month to go until the Opening Weekend of Rebel WBBL|03, fans will this summer be able to join in the running for another major prize of $10,000 in a daily WBBL fantasy competition.

This will be addition to the usual BBL round-based competition that tens of thousands of fans have played in recent years.

Fans can select squads consisting of 16 players to take part in an expanded 12-round season to factor in the additional eight matches in the KFC BBL|07 season.

Tough decisions will be made as you make changes to your squad following each round as the value of each player fluctuates based on their on-field performance.

This season, you'll be able to invite even more friends and colleagues into your private league with 10 participants now permitted in each league.

But what's better than taking down your mates? Bulk. Cash! The major prize in the BBL competition for the highest scoring team of the season is worth $10,000, while there are also cash prizes available for the highest score of each round and the leading private league.

The scoring system remains largely the same as per last season, but there's now another factor for team owners to consider. BBL players will now earn additional bonus points when they score 75 or more runs, as well as 100 or more runs. For example, a player scoring 138 runs in a BBL game at a strike rate of 138.7 will score 98 fantasy points (106 runs = 106 points, plus a 100+ runs bonus = 20 points and a strike rate bonus of 12 points).

It's certainly worthwhile doing your research in the lead-up to the season.  Hit the '?' button when on your team selection page for more details on the scoring system here.

The new WBBL Fantasy competition will also see the introduction of our new daily format.

Instead of changing your squad based on separate rounds like the BBL competition, the WBBL version will instead see participants select five players (two batters, two bowlers and a wicketkeeper) on each matchday. This makes life easier for casual fans looking to expand their knowledge of the WBBL players, while also providing fantasy experts with the challenge of digging deep to unearth the hidden fantasy gems across the 34 days of competition.

As mentioned earlier, there's a main cash prize of $10,000 up for grabs for the leading fantasy player across the season, while there also opportunities to score more prizes during the season to allow the opportunity take home some cash even if you're team is slow getting out of the blocks.

The scoring system is only slightly different to what you will see in the BBL Fantasy competition, but it's worth taking a look at all the details in the 'Help' section of the Fantasy site. It's really quite straightforward once you get the hang of it.
