Hobart Hurricanes opener rewarded after a stunning KFC BBL season in purple

Hobart Hurricanes opener D'Arcy Short has been honoured for his record-breaking season, named Player of the Tournament for BBL|07.

Short hammered a record 504 runs for the Hurricanes in the regular season, a tally that included a tournament record score of 122 and led to his maiden international call-up for Australia's Gillette T20 Tri-Series campaign.

The left-hander has a chance to add to his run tally when his Hobart side take on the Strikers in tonight's KFC BBL final.

Short won the award by polling 26 votes on the 3-2-1 system, eight clear of Sydney Thunder skipper Shane Watson and 10 in front of third-placed Alex Carey.
