Towering quick replaces a compatriot for the northern summer

Adelaide Strikers fast bowler Billy Stanlake is the latest Australian to head to England this winter after he penned a deal to play for Derbyshire.

Stanlake is set to play T20 cricket for Derbyshire and replaces fellow Australian Kane Richardson, who was called up to Australia's World Cup squad after Jhye Richardson was ruled out with a shoulder injury.

The giant quick represented Australia last summer - in T20 and ODI cricket - but failed to earn a ticket to the World Cup.

However, the 24-year-old played 10 games for the Strikers and made a successful return to Sheffield Shield cricket in two matches for the Bulls at the end of the season.

Following the home domestic season, Stanlake traveled to the subcontinent for a stint in the Indian Premier League with Sunrisers Hyderabad but failed to feature in a game.

While he hasn't played a lot in the past two months, the right-armer is raring to go in England in July.

"The T20 will come around fast now and I’m looking forward to getting going," Stanlake said.

"It’ll be my first experience of the tournament, and having spoken to the guys I know how important the competition is.

"It’s a good side and a quick, bouncy track at Derby, so I hope to use my skills and contribute to performances out in the middle for Derbyshire."
