Maxwell moves on from Wade comments

Allrounder says there's no issue with senior Bushrangers figures, praises Test batsman Peter Handscomb

Glenn Maxwell says the fallout from his public comments regarding Matthew Wade is "all done and dusted", adding there's no issue between himself and any senior figures in Victorian cricket.

Maxwell was fined an undisclosed amount by his Australian ODI teammates earlier this month after questioning Wade's decision to bat himself above Maxwell in the batting order for the Bushrangers.

But the 28-year-old says there's no ill feeling between himself and his skipper, nor has there been any blowback from coach Andrew McDonald following his comments.

"I think it's all done and dusted now," Maxwell told cricket.com.au. "I think we'll move on from there.

"I've seen Ronnie (McDonald) a few times and he's fine. I've seen (Cricket Victoria CEO) Tony Dodemaide and (general manager) Shaun Graf and they're all fine. Move on."

Maxwell says he's in a good space heading into the KFC Big Bash League and has been thrilled by the progress of state teammate Peter Handscomb in the Test arena.

Handscomb posted his maiden Test century last week in just his second Test match and Maxwell says he's kept a close eye on his teammate's progress.

Handscomb in a hurry through the nineties

"He is an absolute legend and one of my closest mates," he said.

"We've come through the ranks together and played Shield cricket together for six years now and to see him do as well as he is just brings a massive smile to my face.

"I get a little bit giggly when I see him walk out on the field and he's got that stupid grin on his face, facing the bowlers and charging the spinners. I just couldn't be happier for him. Watching him make runs and that hundred, I got butterflies. It was outstanding."

Maxwell's opening BBL match for the Melbourne Stars will come on Boxing Day in Hobart, a month since his last match at domestic level.

The allrounder says he's in good form despite a lack of top-level cricket, having impressed in some practice matches for the Stars and also for Melbourne club side Fitzroy-Doncaster.

Having hammered scores of 72 and 79 and also taken four wickets for the Lions in their recent two-day clash, Maxwell said he's ready to do battle with the Hurricanes.

"I'm hitting them really well," he said. "It felt really good just to get out to the middle (for Fitzroy-Doncaster) and hit the ball cleanly and I had a similar hit out (for the Stars) against the Renegades on Monday.

"I just felt really calm about my technique and clear about where I want to hit the ball.

"So I'm feeling really positive heading into the Big Bash."
