Brisbane Heat have cruised to a seven-wicket win over Perth Scorchers to collect their first points of the Rebel WBBL season.
Having restricted a strong Scorchers batting line-up to just 103 runs, Beth Mooney (25no from 23), Kirby Short (27 off 21) and Jess Jonassen (28no from 17) ensured there were no hiccups in the chase, sealing victory in 12.5 overs.
Earlier, a superb start with the ball from Sammy Jo-Johnson and Jess Jonassen saw just three runs scored from the first three overs, piling the pressure on in-form openers Elyse Villani and Amy Jones.
The stranglehold paid off when Amy Jones (4 off 7) was caught off the bowling of Delissa Kimmince in the fifth over, with Nicole Bolton (4 off 3) departing three balls later.
The Scorchers struck just 34 runs off their first 10 overs, but Villani – who was at one point 3 from 18 deliveries – lifted the run rate as she found her feet, only to fall for 45 (55) in the 19th over.
She was one of just three Scorchers to reach double figures, with Chloe Piparo the next highest scorer, as the Scorchers finished on 8-103.
Johnson was superb in her four overs, taking 2-9, while Jonassen (2-17) was also impressive.
Perth were again without skipper Meg Lanning, who also missed Friday night’s match against the Sixers due to a back complaint.
