The Melbourne Renegades have their first win on the board after a hard-earned nine-run win over Adelaide Strikers

A strong performance with bat and ball from New Zealander Amy Satterthwaite has helped Melbourne Renegades collect their first win of the season at the expense of Adelaide Strikers at Gliderol Stadium on Sunday.

Satterthwaite scored an innings high 49 from just 37 balls to lift the Renegades to a challenging 5-160 at the Glenelg venue.

The Renegades skipper then collected 2-33 with her medium-pacers, and with the help of compatriot Lea Tahuhu (2-20), the home side were restricted to 9-151 from their allotted overs.

Satterthwaite also shone on Saturday with a sparkling 56 only for the Renegades to fall short by a single run against the same opponents.

Another New Zealander, Strikers captain Suzie Bates, looked set to get her side over the line at one stage but her dismissal for 63 left the locals at 5-116 and with too much to do.

It was a much-needed win for the Renegades in their third match of the WBBL campaign, while the Strikers remain well placed with three victories from five outings.
