Renegades' bowlers pave way for win

Great bowling from the Renegades sparked a mid-innings collapse and set the scene for a thrilling win

The Melbourne Renegades have secured a dramatic eight-run WBBL victory over the Brisbane Heat who have suffered an extraordinary collapse at Camberwell Sports Ground in Melbourne.

Chasing 134 for victory, the Heat were on track at 1-71 just past the midway point of Friday's innings, only to be dismissed for 125 from 19.5 overs.

Openers Beth Mooney (39) and Kirby Short (20) built a solid platform for the Heat's strong batting line-up.

But the home side had the last laugh with opening bowler Molly Strano (3-16) returning the best figures, with support from Lea Tahuhu (2-28) and Maitlan Brown (2-22).

Earlier, Renegades' opener Sophie Molineux top-scored with 40, while consistent allrounder Amy Satterthwaite's crucial 38no earned her second-successive player-of-the-match honours as the hosts posted 6-133.

The result leaves the Renegades with two wins from four outings, while the Heat boast a lone victory from their three matches.

The Queenslanders will not have to wait long for revenge with a match against the same opponents scheduled for Saturday at Docklands Stadium.
