Super Sixers survive Stars' challenge

It was a hard-earned win, but the Sixers have returned to the top of the WBBL table

The Sydney Sixers' batting depth again came to the fore in a five-wicket win over Melbourne Stars at Casey Fields.

A devastating bowling display during the Power Play set the Sixers up, as they took 4-22 in the first 5.4 overs.

Kim Garth (2-15) struck first, removing Katie Mack for just two runs, but the Stars opener was soon joined in the tent by Lizelle Lee (2), Mignon du Preez (4) and Georgia Elwiss (7).

Osborne led the Stars' recovery, compiling a steadying 39 off 43.

For the Sixers, Marizanne Kapp took 2-13 from four overs, while Dane van Niekerk, Sarah Aley and Lauren Smith each picked up a wicket.

Diving Burns takes ripper at Casey Fields

The Stars got a bit of their own back during the Sixers' batting Power Play, claiming the wickets of Reakes (8), Gardner (4) and Healy (21).

But a composed 39 off 45 from captain and player-of-the-match Ellyse Perry guided the visitors to victory.
