Sixers bowlers put Hurricanes to the sword

A blistering bowling display set Sydney Sixers up for a big nine-wicket win over Hobart Hurricanes

It looked to be a Rebel WBBL mismatch on paper and so it proved as the Sydney Sixers crushed the winless Hobart Hurricanes by nine wickets at the SCG.

The ladder-leading defending champions posted 1-99 to mow down the Hurricanes' modest total of 98 with 6.1 overs to spare.

Hurricanes feel the Burns at the SCG

Erin Burns and Ellyse Perry virtually matched the Hurricanes tally on their own with an unbeaten second-wicket partnership of 93 as the home side eased to victory.

Alyssa Healy fell in the opening over for six, but Burns (48 not out off 38 balls) and Perry (41 not out off 43) were virtually untroubled against the toothless Hurricanes.

Healy's sharp run out catches Hepburn short

The Sixers, who defeated the Hurricanes by 33 runs last Sunday, have four wins from five matches to sit two points clear of their nearest rivals.

The visiting Hurricanes made a poor start and continued to lose wickets at regular intervals against tight and disciplined Sixers bowling.

Perry powers Sixers to big win

The disastrous run out of Barbadian opener Hayley Matthews for five typified a day when everything seemed to go wrong for the Hurricanes, who were eventually all out off 19.4 overs.

Five Hurricanes batters reached double figures, yet the top score was only 16, posted by No.3 Veda Krishnamurthy.
