Sixers sign England quick for BBL|08

The team in magenta have signed a second England international for the upcoming Big Bash season

Two England internationals will feature for the Sydney Sixers during BBL|08, following the signing of young quick Tom Curran on Tuesday.

Curran will team up with fellow Englishman Joe Denly and the rest of his teammates at the Sixers this season after he finalised a one-year deal with the Sydney side.

The 23-year-old has played two Tests for his country, debuting against Australia in the Boxing Day Test last year where he almost claimed the wicket of David Warner during the opening day's play.

Warner caught on 99 ... but England rookie oversteps

Curran had Warner caught at mid-on just one run short of his century, but the Australian opener received a reprieve with the Englishman no-balled for overstepping.

He did return shortly after to collect his first Test wicket and it was a big one too, with the prized scalp of then Australia captain Steve Smith chopping on to a delivery outside off stump.

Curran (eventually) gets his maiden Test wicket

However, Curran is probably more well known for his performances in the limited-overs arena.

Curran has played 11 ODIs and seven T20Is for England, with his five-wicket haul (5-35) against Australia in Perth earlier this year his best international figures to date.

He is also a useful lower middle-order batsman, with an international ODI average of 71 courtesy of only being dismissed once from six innings.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be joining the Sydney Sixers for the 2018-19 Big Bash," Curran said.

"Friends and colleagues have told me what a great team environment it is and how passionate the fans are and I'm hugely excited to experience this all for myself.

"I can't wait to get to Sydney and hopefully help the team have a great season."

Curran's signing leaves the young Sixers' squad with just one vacant roster spot and also finalises their international signings for BBL|08.

It also means four England internationals will be in action in Sydney during BBL|08, with Jos Buttler and Joe Root already committed to the Thunder.
