Contract extensions for key Sixers duo

Two stars of women's cricket in Australia have signed contract extensions with the Sydney Sixers

The Sydney Sixers have re-signed two of Australia's best limited-overs female cricketers, with captain Ellyse Perry and wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy signing one-season extensions with the WBBL club.

The pair played a key role in the Sixers' surge to the final in the competition's inaugural season, where they lost to city rivals the Sydney Thunder.

Perry wants to go one better this season, with their campaign starting on December 11 at North Sydney Oval against the Brisbane Heat.

"This coming season is a really great opportunity to continue to grow the Sixers aggressive and positive cricket that we've worked hard to develop," said Perry.

The Sixers had a slow start last season, which Healy is keen to rectify.

"We finished really strongly last season (but) will make sure we start well this year," Healy said.

"We have a strong mix of young, excited and enthusiastic young players as well as senior players who can call on their experience so we have a great balance and believe we can get the job done."
