Perry lights up SCG to defeat the Heat

A sublime century from Sydney's skipper led the defending champions to their fifth consecutive win

An unbeaten century by skipper Ellyse Perry has fired the Sydney Sixers to a 11-run Rebel WBBL win over the Brisbane Heat at the SCG.

Perry's rich vein of form in this tournament continued on Saturday as she racked up a superb 103 from just 64 balls, her second ton from six innings.

The superstar allrounder brought up her century with a boundary from the last ball of the innings as her side posted 3-166 from their 20 overs.

After losing Alyssa Healy (2) in the third over, the reigning champions were in early trouble at 1-8 before Perry took the game out of the Heat's hands.

She struck 10 boundaries and five sixes as the Sixers joined the Sydney Thunder atop the competition ladder on 10 points.

Perry has now hit 419 runs for the tournament and is averaging 209.5 having also hit three half-centuries, two of them unbeaten.

 

The Heat never really threatened during the run chase with Jess Jonassen top-scoring with 33 before they were restricted to 7-155.

Dane van Niekerk and Erin Burns each claimed two wickets for the Sixers.
