Exposure of the WBBL competition reached new heights by WBBL|07 as all 59 matches of WBBL|07 being broadcast between Fox Cricket and the Seven Network for the first time.
Despite several challenges thrown up by the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the season soldiered on -- with many forced to watch through their televisions -- as blocks of matches were played between Hobart, Launceston, Perth, Adelaide and Mackay.
Admirable efforts from the Melbourne Renegades, bolstered by the addition of Indian star Harmanpreet Kaur, and Brisbane Heat away from their home grounds resulted in top-four finishes, however it was the Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers as the last two sides remaining in the revised finals format.
The Scorchers and Strikers had already played out two classics in the build-up to the WBBL|07 Final; the first decided by way of a Super Over and the other by just 12 runs, of which the Scorchers were victorious in both.
In front of a 15,000-strong crowd, the Scorchers were ultimately successful in securing their first WBBL title in front of a fever-pitch home crowd at Optus Stadium, with terrific bowling performances in the power play and at the death from the likes of Player of the Final Marizanne Kapp, Heather Graham and Alana King serving as the backbone to a long-awaited triumph.
