A year after their male counterparts brought home the state's first piece of Big Bash silverware, the Hobart Hurricanes reigned supreme in WBBL|11 to perfectly cap off a historic campaign.
With England superstar Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Lizelle Lee up the top, the fearsome depth of the Hurricanes' batting line-up - and their superb bowling line-up to boot - saw the 'Cane Train rarely threatened as they steamed towards Finals. Lee was ultimately the difference in the Final, blasting an unbeaten 77 off 44 deliveries.
One of the rare blemishes on the Hurricanes' win-loss tally was a quirky match against the Adelaide Strikers, which saw an errant ball at the change of innings embedded into the pitch by the roller and the game subsequently abandoned.
While the youngsters in Caoimhe Bray - netting a memorable hat-trick at just 16 years of age in the Sydney Derby - and Lucy Hamilton delighting at every turn, it was the veterans in Beth Mooney and Meg Lanning who dazzled with the bat and added more distinctions to their already stacked résumés.
The race to finals was just as enthralling, with the Sixers and Strikers taking it down to the very last ball of the home-and-away campaign, with Alyssa Healy running out former teammate Sophie Ecclestone off the last ball to book their place in the top-four with a one-run win.
It would ultimately be the farewell campaign for the Australian women's skipper, who hung up the gloves at the close of the Sixers' campaign to the tune of a standing ovation from an admiring SCG crowd.
