Although scoring the most runs for the competition in BBL|05 (complete with a staggering five sixes in a row against the Melbourne Stars), it wasn't until BBL|06 where Chris Lynn emphatically announced himself as the league's 'master blaster'.

Paired with the return of New Zealand superstar Brendon McCullum after five seasons away from the BBL, the aptly dubbed 'Bash Brothers' blasted their way towards becoming one of the most lethal opening pairs across world cricket.

Lynn even made global headlines with a monster six off the bowling of Shaun Tait, which rocketed out of the Gabba and onto the stadium roof; a cheeky wink from the Heat master-blaster to Tait in the seconds after severely downplaying the enormity of the hit.

While Lynn's mammoth maximum was by far the biggest of the season in terms of distance, it was perhaps trumped by the Sydney Thunder's Eoin Morgan in terms of significance. Struggling for wins after their maiden championship the season prior, the England international created one of the Thunder's most memorable moments with a rare last-ball six to win the game for his side, sending Spotless Stadium into a frenzy.

Up the other end of the ladder, 'Lynn-sanity' reached fever-pitch with his maiden century against the Hobart Hurricanes; the milestone coming off just 49 balls as the Heat barrelled towards what seemed destined to be a second championship.

That second piece of silverware would have to wait another few seasons, however. The Heat were bundled out of the finals by way of a Super Over in the second semi-final by the Sydney Sixers, who in turn fell once again to their arch-rivals in the Perth Scorchers in comprehensive fashion.
