Among them was the innings of Josh Brown for the Brisbane Heat in the penultimate game of the season. Walloping his way to whopping 140 off just 57 balls, which included 12 sixes at Metricon Stadium, Brown propelled the Heat towards another title tilt to well and truly put his name on the map.
Just a few months earlier, Brown was a Big Bash unknown; then a Queensland bat-maker carrying his self-made sticks into battle for the Heat.
Brown backed up his efforts in the subsequent Final with a pivotal 53 at the top of the order, however it was Spencer Johnson - back after a spell on the sidelines cruelled by injury - who was best afield with a record 4-26 to stifle the Sixers' chase.
His emotional interviews in the moments after Brisbane's triumph was proof enough of how much the long-awaited second title meant to not only him and the Heat, but the state of Queensland as a whole.
