WBBL|03 may be known in the history books for the Sydney Sixers' back-to-back triumph, however it was perhaps one incredibly odd phenomenon that perhaps trumped the final game of the season.
Astoundingly, there were three Super Overs spread across the season; two of which involved the Melbourne Renegades. Oddly enough, the exact same feat was achieved the following season, with the semi-final again involving the Renegades.
It was the Super Over between the Strikers and Thunder however which proved to be particularly decisive in the shaping of the top-four. Not only did the Strikers squeeze into a finals berth thanks to that slim victory, but it ended up costing the Thunder a top-of-the-table finish.
Both the Strikers and Thunder were bundled out of their respective finals against the Scorchers and Sixers, with the latter two sides playing out the decider for the second time in as many seasons in yet another mirror of that season's BBL finals match-up.
Sarah Coyte's 4-17 spell in the final at Adelaide Oval - who returned to the game after announcing her retirement the previous season, aged 25 - was the difference in the nine-wicket win, with the Sixers' second title in three seasons further entrenching them as a force to be reckoned with across both the WBBL and BBL.
