The rise and eventual triumph of the Melbourne Renegades from a last-placed finish the previous season to league champions in WBBL|10 was undoubtedly one of the greatest successes to come from the competition's 10-season history.
There was far more motivation behind the 'Gades' success than just mere redemption.
Inspired by teammate Josie Dooley who suffered a life-threatening stroke during the off-season, the Renegades - led by future Australian captain Sophie Molineux - overcame a sluggish start to win eight of their last nine matches and claim their maiden trophy in a rain-affected final.
Amid the powerful performances by the Renegades were two extraordinary matches that have gone down in WBBL history as some of the greatest.
The Hurricanes' Lizelle Lee whipped up a storm with an unbeaten 150 off just 75 balls against the Perth Scorchers to mark the highest ever individual score in the WBBL, with the latter side again making history after a unique tied match against the Sydney Sixers after both sides were unable to be separated after a tense Super Over finish.
With the Renegades snapping their own title drought in the WBBL, only the Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars were left as the only sides without titles. However the beginnings of a purple reign were right around the corner.
