There may not be a state that gets behind their team as much as the Adelaide Strikers faithful.
Very rarely is the magnificent Adelaide Oval not heaving as the blue brigade pack the stands of the famous colisseum, which has taken centre stage for two of the three of the club's Big Bash titles: one in BBL|07 and another in WBBL|09.
Although being a one-team state with no cross-town rival to trade barbs with, the Strikers have nevertheless created hallmark fixtures on the Big Bash calendar, which are always among the best games played for the season.
The New Year's Eve clash stands chief among them, with thanks to a young Travis Head's brilliant century in BBL|05 turning the previously novelty fixture into one of the league's most iconic staples.
While players come and go frequently such is the nature of franchise cricket, a great many harbour a fondness for Adelaide and remain far longer than they otherwise would.
WBBL champions Amanda-Jade Wellington, Bridget Patterson, Tahlia McGrath and Megan Schutt are as synonymous with the Strikers as Adelaide Oval and have played their whole careers in blue, while Afghanistan superstar Rashid Khan - perhaps Adelaide's greatest BBL player - featured in six sensational seasons for the Strikers.
With England superstar Ben Stokes on the way for BBL|16, perhaps he too will remain in the City of Churches for more than just a brief time.
